The Dream Factory, Inc., a national organization, began in 1980 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. It was founded by Charlie Henault, a former South Central Bell employee who had a dream of his own: to create a volunteer organization dedicated to granting the dreams of children with critical illnesses.
The national headquarters of The Dream Factory is in Louisville, Kentucky with chapters in many states. Nationally, The Dream Factory has granted more than 23,500 dreams in its 25-year history - a record of which we are quite proud. Examples of dreams granted to children include trips to Disney World, computers, TVs and VCRs, puppies, ponies, visits to meet favorite celebrities and sports stars and shopping sprees.
More than 5000 volunteers across the country visit children and their families in hospitals and in their homes, procure and deliver dream items, schedule dream trips, arrange special celebrations and conduct fundraising events for their chapters.
The Dream Factory is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charitable organization that depends on the support of local businesses and individuals as well as community grants to provide the funding necessary to grant dreams. Nationally, 90% of all funds raised are used for our stated mission: to grant the dreams of children with critical illnesses.
We are a new chapter here in San Antonio and are on our way to granting our first dream. If you'd like to be a part of this great honor, then please consider joining us.
